Jauh di Mata, Dekat di Hati ♥
This is an Indonesian expression meaning : I see you from afar, yet our hearts are one.
Before you get all mushy and think I'm in love with someone, I'm just going to let you know that I'm writing this for my mother.
She is currently sick, possibly with malaria. And, yes, it's a big deal, especially if you're from a tropical setting like Indonesia. What makes it even harder is the fact that you're a 28-hour-plane flight from physically being present with your family. To add to the excitement, your mom's sick, and there's nothing you can do about it but pray.
My mom's a wonderful person. I won't say she's the best, because no one's perfect in this world. Yet I will say that she has been a powerful reflection of quietness and gentleness in God's grace. She can be loud and boisterous at times, yet she also could smother a thousand emotions with a smile. Mom is so awesome.
And now, she is now lying at the doctor's room. Fever. Shivers. Separated.
It breaks my heart to realize that I can't be there for her. Before I moved to college, I was always there when my mom or dad gets sick. I get to witness firsthand. I get to physically be there and pray for them. I get to comfort them in person.
But now--now I'm clear on the other side of the globe from them. I'm some $2,600 worth of plane tickets if I ever attempt to see them soon. It's heartbreaking. I'm not gonna lie.
This is a rather short post, I know. I purposefully made it this way to leave you with this request: pray for her. Please. Even one line of prayer for healing would make a difference in my mom's health.
